We've never seen a wedding picture quite like this one! Donna Chappell's wedding party were invited on this luxury yacht in Cyprus and I'm sure you'll agree it looks like a fabulous setting.

Donna kindly sent us this card and wrote a lovely message:

Our bride of the week is Kelly and her husband Dave, who also hired his menswear suits with us. I’m sure you’ll agree she looks absolutely stunning in her silver Ronald Joyce gown and the groom looks very handsome too!

Our longest serving member of staff, Bryony, is still pleasantly surprised when she receives thank you messages and photographs, even after 22 years at The Wedding Shop! Here's a lovely message that Bryony received from Raquel Surally.


Dear Bryony

Not sure if you remember me but you were my advisor for my wedding dress. I just wanted to thank you so much for all your help you were so lovely with us and patient, on the first session I must have tried on at least 7 dresses - only to go back to the first dress!

Ah but we did have a fun time at the wedding and everyone, including Michael loved my dressed. Most comments being that they had never seen that colour wedding dress before. I wanted to send you a couple of pic's but couldn't decide which one. So instead I've sent you a link to the album(s) there are two, please don't feel you have to look at them, I can imagine you probably get a lot of this - but if you're feeling bored and you want to see the dress on the day then please feel free to have a look.

We all (my bridesmaids Jackie & Sagal and my mum) genuinely left the shop feeling really happy and the customer care we received from all at the shop was fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend The Wedding Shop to any future brides the personal service and attention was worth the journey from Central London, plus it was a good excuse to head out for dinner and drinks afterwards in the town centre :)

I'm so sorry I completely forgot to send you any photos of my dress on the day but please now find three attached. I've included one from the back as so many people told me how pretty it looked with the long veil. I was so completely overwhelmed with how amazing I felt in my gown on the day and how beautifully you and your team made it fit. A million thank yous for helping me choose something so perfect.

I think this photo really captures the bride and groom wonderfully and as she rightly says she will always be known as 'The bride with the red shoes'!

And so it begins

For the last few years my husband has been telling me that I should write a blog about everything that goes on behind the scenes of my Colchester based bridal boutique.

In February '09 our web site will be 10 years old, so I thought that it was about time I added something new for our visitors. One of the main reasons I finally decided to do it was because I wanted people to understand our work ethic, and how hard-working and dedicated we are to our brides and their families.

It also dawned on me that most of our brides have an insatiable appetite for information on everything surrounding their big day, so with this in mind, it is my aim to give you some bridal industry insight, and a wide range of advice that isn't just limited to wedding dresses and tiaras.

Hopefully I can make you smile too when I recount some of the best moments we've had in the 30 year history of The Wedding Shop. So please watch this space and see what life is like from our side of the counter.
